With tremendous skill and an intense focus on patient-centered care, Dr. Susan Bernstein is able to repair a number of dental cosmetic imperfections. Using state-of-the-art cosmetic dentistry treatments like porcelain veneers and laser teeth whitening, Dr. Bernstein is able to help her Hamilton and greater Cincinnati area patients achieve beaming, beautiful smiles. Whether your teeth are stained, discolored, crooked, or even gapped, Dr. Bernstein can use the latest technologies and proven treatments to restore and maintain the smile you wish to have.
Dr. Susan Bernstein recognizes the many advantages of porcelain veneers and offers them to her greater Cincinnati area patients. These popular cosmetic dentistry treatments are made of extremely thin shells of porcelain material that are bonded directly to the front of the teeth. Porcelain veneers are able to cover up stains and chips, and because they are set on the surface of the teeth, they can even fill in the gaps between teeth. These veneers are precisely matched to the color and the size of the existing teeth, creating a smile that looks completely natural.
Because porcelain veneers are made to fit naturally in the mouth, they are inconspicuous and comfortable. In addition to their discreetness, porcelain veneers are particularly strong and resistant to damage. When the porcelain bonds to the teeth, it instantly becomes extremely durable, so you don't have to worry about damaging them. The porcelain's glassy character also makes veneers resistant to the discoloration that stems from tobacco, coffee, and other staining agents.
If you are considering porcelain veneers at our office, which serves the greater Cincinnati area, to cover up stains, chips, cracks, or gaps, contact our office today to schedule a consultation. Dr. Bernstein is more than willing to assist you in making an informed and confident decision.
An alternative to porcelain veneers and teeth whitening is the dental bonding treatment, an effective, quick procedure ideal for remedying teeth that are decaying, stained, gapped, or cracked. During the dental bonding treatment, Dr. Susan Bernstein uses a putty-like substance known as composite resin to repair and enhance the appearance of the teeth.
The composite resin used for dental bonding is matched as closely as possible to the natural color of your teeth. After the resin is applied to the appropriate tooth or teeth, Dr. Bernstein will proceed to sculpt and polish the resin to match the surrounding teeth. Then, she will expose the bonded teeth to an intense ultraviolet light that hardens the resin into a sturdy material.
Though the dental bonding procedure is normally done in one office visit, Dr. Bernstein may find a need to continue polishing and further shaping the resin over the course of a few more visits. The composite resin that is used in dental bonding, while not as strong or resistant to stains as porcelain veneers, is a practical and satisfying option for patients who want a whiter, straighter, more appealing smile.
Dental bonding is an effective treatment and can be used as an alternative to other cosmetic dentistry procedures like teeth whitening and porcelain veneers. If you live in Hamilton or the greater Cincinnati area and would like to learn more about the possibility of undergoing a dental bonding treatment, please contact the office of Dr. Susan Bernstein today to schedule a consultation.
A dental crown is essentially a cap that is placed over a tooth, covering the entirety of the tooth's surface. Crowns can restore the original shape, strength, color, and overall appearance of many types of damaged teeth. A dental crown can be used to: keep a tooth that has been weakened by decay or disease from breaking or cracking; repair a tooth that has already broken or cracked; hold a dental bridge in place; completely cover a tooth that has become misshapen or irreversibly discolored; or, cover a dental implant.
Though an effective and satisfying method of restoring damaged teeth, traditional dental crowns require at least two visits to the dentist to have them fitted and placed. The first visit allows the dentist to examine and prepare the affected teeth by filing them down to an appropriate size and creating a mold of the teeth to be placed with a crown. A temporary crown is placed until your next visit, and the mold is sent to a dental laboratory where the crown is made. The second visit consists of the dentist removing the temporary crown and permanently placing the new one.
With the cutting-edge technology of CEREC® 3D, however, having a dental crown fitted and placed takes only one visit to Dr. Bernstein and eliminates the uncomfortable process of creating a tooth impression. In the convenience of just one hour-long appointment, you can enjoy all the benefits of a strong, natural-looking crown.
