CEREC® 3D
CEREC® 3D technology has dramatically improved the way dentists like Dr. Bernstein can offer their patients inlay, onlay, and dental crown services. Whereas a variety of traditional restorative procedures required multiple trips to the dentist, CEREC® 3D's in-office technology allows damaged teeth to be restored in a single visit. Dr. Bernstein focuses especially on the making of onlays and inlays with CEREC® 3D. Whenever possible, Dr. Bernstein opts to place an onlay or inlay on a tooth. These restorative treatments necessitate less tooth reduction than is required for a dental crown, decreasing the chances of the restored tooth needing a root canal treatment at a later point and eliminating the need for further crowns.
With CEREC® 3D, tooth restoration can be completed in approximately an hour. Dr. Bernstein begins the procedure by taking a high-definition picture of the damaged tooth with a special CEREC® 3D camera. The image is then processed by Dr. Bernstein with the help of the revolutionary CEREC® 3D software to produce a three-dimensional model of the tooth. Using this model, CEREC® 3D creates an extremely accurate restoration of the damaged tooth. Once the restoration has been completed, Dr. Bernstein will be able to place and bond the inlay, onlay, or crown over the damaged tooth.

BriteSmile® Laser Teeth Whitening

Dr. Bernstein understands that many of her patients simply want to make their teeth whiter for a cleaner, brighter smile. The BriteSmile® one-hour in-office whitening treatment is a simple, gentle procedure that can whiten teeth in only an hour. The first of three steps consists of applying the proprietary BriteSmile® whitening gel to the teeth. After the gel has been evenly applied, a patented blue BriteSmile® light is shined onto the whitening gel for 20 minutes while the patient relaxes by listening to music, watching TV, or even napping. Laser Gum Contouring
Laser gum contouring is an excellent option for patients who feel that they possess "gummy" smiles, or smiles that show too much gum tissue and not enough teeth. The gummy effect may make the teeth appear too short for the smile and can be a great source of insecurity for many people. With laser gum contouring, however, extra gum tissue can be removed to further expose the crowns of the teeth.
Using a special type of laser known as a diode, Dr. Susan Bernstein can precisely contour the gum line to safely meet your realistic aesthetic desires. The procedure requires application of a local anesthetic to the gums. The gum tissue is then removed by the laser, which vaporizes and closes the excess tissue to avoid cutting and bleeding. Reshaping the gums produces a gum line that reveals a symmetrical, healthy, bright smile.
Smaller amounts of gum tissue can be removed in 15 to 30 minutes. Substantially large amounts of excess tissue require a crown lengthening surgery that lasts one to two hours, and calls for four to six weeks of healing time.
